False Pregnancy??

Good afternoon followers 😁

Last weekend we went to an auction with no plans to buy anything. I wanted to look at equipment and maybe buy if it was worth it. Needless to say we came home with two rabbits. A champagne d'argent doe named Willow and a black silver marten buck named Marty.

They both have been fitting in well. No signs of stress or sickness. Sunday morning Noah went to the barn to feed and check on everyone and noticed fur every where in Willow's cage. He tried to send me a picture but it didnt go through and when I got to the barn she had turned that fur into a nest.

My first thought was "God, are we going to have babies?" What a wonderful unplanned surprise. Noah and I went into the hayloft and got some straw for her just incase. We put it in there and I told her I would see her in the morning.

Monday morning I put the boys on the bus and went to the barn. No changes. The straw was still laying where we put it and the nest looked the same as the night before. I decided to try to palpate her but she kept laying down so I couldnt get to her belly. I told her that I would leave her along and see what happens.

Now its Tuesday. I went to the barn this mmorning and everything is still the same. I was able to check her belly and didnt feel anything. I'm pretty sure it was a false pregnancy.

I was a little bummed to think it was false. Deep down I was excited about a litter of babies. It would have been our first. Even though we wouldn't have known anything about the sire, no pedigree and they possible could have been mutts, I would have still loved them just the same.

I keep praying to God that he blesses us with an abundance of bunnies when the time is right.
